Our Story

Alan, Kerry’s youngest son, joined the company as a young boy in 1987. Starting with small tasks like clean-up and organizing tools, Alan gradually became deeply involved in the family business throughout his high school and college years. This hands-on experience not only honed his managerial and technical skills but also fostered strong customer relationships. In 2010, Alan assumed the role of CEO, taking charge of the company’s day-to-day operations while simultaneously serving as the Head Technician.



Continuing the family legacy Alan’s wife, Amber, and oldest son Carter have since joined the team as Office Manager/Color Consultant and Summer Technician respectively.

Thanks to Lake Painting’s reputation as a trusted and top-quality provider, coupled with Alan’s visionary approach, the company has experienced substantial growth in recent years. Although primarily known for its exceptional painting services, Lake Painting offers a comprehensive range of solutions to both residential and commercial clients. In addition to interior painting and wallpaper application, its skilled team now specializes in cabinet refinishing and fabrication. The company’s newly-expanded 4,000 sq. ft. shop now contains a state-of-the-art woodshop, spray booth, and showroom. 

While based in New Sharon, Iowa, Lake Painting’s services reach central and southeastern parts of the state, including Grinnell, Newton, Oskaloosa, Montezuma, Pella, and Lynnville-Sully. They have even extended their reach as far as Cedar Rapids and Des Moines, serving customers in those regions as well.
